Fishing

Fish right outside your door for Trout (Brown, Brook, Rainbow). Pike can also be taken, as well as, the occasional Walleye from some of the deeper holes. A 15 minute drive gets you to the Flies only water at the C.C.C. bridge. Public access to the river is plentiful both upstream and downstream from the cabin.  The River runs 2 to 3 ft deep in this area. A firm gravel bottom interlaced with sand makes wading fairly easy. We do have a nice 12ft flat bottom boat that may be available or maybe you might want to know where all the good holes are and take me with you. I can sometimes find the time. Bring your own boat and fish some of the local lakes. Higgins, Houghton, Fife and Manistee are real close by.

Sucessful Hunters

Hunt for Bear, Coyote, Bobcat, Turkey and Deer on 1000's of acres of public access surrounding the cabin.

Michigan's Upland hunting is at it's best right here in the southeast corner of Kalkaska county. The River with it's many tributaries surrounded by a continuous cycle of clear cutting of State land makes for perfect habitat for Ruffed Grouse. A stable population of Woodcock and heavy migrations in October can make for a fast action day.  Ducks and Geese can be found on the various lakes, potholes and beaver ponds though out this region.
